We hear, a lot, that MLM is what initially compels people to the thought of making money on the net. The basic idea is simple. You become an affiliate for a company and earn a commission for each item or service you sell. You also recruit people to sell “under” you and earn commissions from each of their sales as well.
However, there’s some false thinking with people that with MLM’s you can earn good money with no work.
But hey… why do all that work when your recruited affiliates will do it for you? Actually, that won’t work, and it does take continued effort and work plus some marketing strategies and plans. Critical mistake number one with many: Failing to treat multi-level marketing as a real business. Avoid the “hobby” mentality at all costs. It is not meant to be done in your spare time (no matter what the advertisements say). Experience continues to show that success will be much more difficult if you have the view that it’s a hobby, etc. The best way to greatly increase your chances of success is to be a business in MLM. You can distinguish yourself from the crowd by being willing to work hard and smart, and success will usually follow.
This business, like so many offline businesses, requires the efforts of a team. Be careful about any hype you hear from recruits promising you hundreds of sales each month. Concentrate on those who are able to make consistent sales each month. If a team member is experiencing a tough time during any month, you’ll be able to absorb it. Trying to woo power sellers takes a lot of time and effort. So just remember that any time you spend doing that could be time spent working with existing team members.
The best practice with your associates is to be honest with them about everything. Don’t promise them megabucks right out of the gate. Make your expectations clear, tell them you expect them to work hard and treat it as a serious busines if they want to do well. Telling people they can earn unrealistic amounts only sets them up for failure because they will be too easily frustrated and discouraged.
